Does Batman need another take on his origin? Do we want to read another story about the life and death of the Waynes? Geoff Johns puts his own spin on the Batman legacy in this hardcover Elseworlds story. We actually get to experience a young Bruce before his parents murders and also are treated to a much more interesting Alfred Pennyworth. The story does bounce around as Johns seems to try and setup enough story for another 4 books but each new reveal takes the story in the right direction. The story travels quickly and I found myself wanting another 20 pages but this Batman accomplishes his goals though maybe not in the most graceful manner as we are used to seeing. Recommended reading for Batman fans as well as first timers.
