They are a staple of comics. The great catchphrase. Whether a rallying call for a group or simply a declaration by a single character, they stick in our minds. So, which ones did you favor?


5. “Wonder Twin Powers activate” and “Oh my stars and garters”
One is the infamous phrase known to all people of a certain age that grew up watching the Super Friends every Saturday morning. The other is an exclamation that the amazing bouncing Beast uttered in amazement and occasionally, dismay. And thus we start this list off right, with a phrase from both Marvel and DC tied for 5th.

4. “Cowabunga, dude”
And then from out in the black and white lands comes the infamous line uttered by those heroes in a half-shell, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The little indy comic that could, the Turtles have endured for thirty years. They even had claim to the most successful independent film for a time (with the 1990 movie of the same name). Totally tubular.

3. “SPOON!”
“We need to choose battle cries. You know, the cries we always emit just before leaping into battle?”
“Oh you mean like, ‘not in the face, not in the face!’?”
“Hmmm. Lacks force, chum. No, more like…like…SPOON!”

2. “Avengers Assemble!” and “Clobberin’ Time”
Another tie on our little list. This time between the rallying cry that has been shouted by’s Earth’s mightiest heroes for decades and the favorite utterance of the ever lovin’ blue-eyed Thing. Two of the most iconic catchphrases in the modern era. But. They still didn’t make number 1.

And before we get to number one, let’s take a moment to appreciate the Honorable Mentions: “Up, Up and Away!“, “Flame On!“, “Imperius Rex!“, “Sweet Christmas!”
