This Day in Comic History: February 26

On this day in 1908, the late great Tex Avery was born.

I know, I know. Tex Avery worked in animation, not comics. So, his inclusion in this little piece might seem off. But we’re talking about the man that helped make the Looney Tunes what they were. Which, in turn, helped the talking animal boom in comics. And, on a larger scale, has informed a few generations of creators (including comic creators) sensibilities regarding humor and design. And plenty of kids have found a love for comics thanks to the Looney Tunes characters. So thanks for the laffs, Tex.
